5 Best Christmas Movies

Alright, friends! It’s the holiday season! In honor of the holiday season, it’s only right that I join the rest of bloggers and Google in listing my top Christmas movies.

So here they are.

  1. The Holiday. Most definitely. Without even the slightest bit of hesitation. It has equal parts romance, comedy, and holiday festiveness. This sounds weird (and morbid if you haven’t seen it), but my favorite part is Kate Winslet sniffing the stove. Classic. Also, I’ll watch any movie Kate Winslet is in. So. There’s that.

  2. The Holidate. This one is brand new. And exclusive to Netflix. It’s not strictly about Christmas. It’s equal opportunity with all holidays. But its soooo good. This one is primarily comedy, followed by holiday festiveness, and then romance. My favorite part is when she doesn’t make it to the bathroom on time on Halloween. I die of laughter every time. You’re welcome.

  3. Meet Me In St. Louis. This is an old, classic musical. Starring Judy Garland. Right at the point in her career when she realized she’s actually kind of pretty, with the help of director-turned-husband Vincente Minnelli. It’s bright, and cheery, and very festive.

  4. Bad Moms Christmas. This movie is hilarious. I like the first movie better. But around the holidays, I can’t possibly pass up watching these moms shirk the anxiety that often accompanies the idea of providing our kids with the perfect Christmas. If you’re looking for a little Christmas rebellion, you’ll find it here.

  5. This Christmas. All Black cast. Black holiday traditions. It’s a wonderfully cultural representation of Christmas. Its also pretty funny.

Notice, I did not include “Love Actually” or “The Best Man Holiday.” That was intentional. Now, I do enjoy “The Best Man Holiday.” But it is an incredibly sad movie. And I try not to subject myself to those when I don’t have to.

What are you watching this holiday season?
