Cold Brew Tea
If you’ve read my About Me, follow me on Instagram, or know me even a little bit, you know that I love tea. I usually have a cup in the morning once I get settled at work and a cup at night once I put Ava to sleep. If it’s a weekend or vacation day, I’l likely have one around 2pm as well.
While I prefer my tea hot, it can be a bit much to drink hot tea multiple times each day when its hot outside. A few weeks ago, it was 90 degrees when we woke up and 90 degrees when we went to sleep. I spent most of the day in a tank top and shorts, with a hair high in a bun, and sitting perfectly still on the couch so I didn’t sweat. I was certainly not going to make a hot cup of tea.
Then I discovered cold brewed iced tea. I just knew there had to be a way to make use of all of the loose leaf tea I have in the cabinet during these hot Summer months. Another quick Pinterest search and I learned I can cold brew my tea.
Its really quick (well, the prep is) and easy. All you do is:
Put 1 1/2 teaspoons of loose leaf tea per 8oz of water in a pitcher.
Add sugar. I do one sugar cube per 8oz. (I didn’t see any pins mention sugar. But I like a little bit of sugar in my tea.)
Add water.
Place in the refrigerator. I tend to just leave it over night. But this pin gives the exact time frames for each type of tea.
When its ready, I transfer the tea to a different pitcher with a strainer. (This keeps leaves from being in your tea.)
Sometimes I’ll add a lemon or peach to the tea.
And you’re ready to enjoy!
What about you? Are you a Summer hot tea or iced tea drinker?
