Fall Home Decor

On September 22nd, Ava woke up and excitedly announced that it was “finally” the first day of Fall. She was ready for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. She was looking forward to time off from school and time spent with family. But mostly, apparently, she was really excited to decorate our home for Fall.

Growing up, we only changed the home decor when it was Christmas. So as an adult and parent, I did the same. I don’t know when or how my daughter decided we needed to now decorate for Fall. But she did. And how could I resist her excitement.

I, of course, scoured Pinterest for fall decorating ideas. Once I had a general idea of the little touches I wanted to achieve, we set off the first Saturday of October to gather decorations. We purchased candles, pumpkins, plant pots, plants, paint, a wreath, and a mat. The next day, we painted the pumpkins at my parents’ house (because we used spray paint and that mess gets everywhere! We needed space) and then toted them home to spread throughout our home.

I have to admit, it does make you feel festive and signify the shift in seasons. But… won’t I just need to take it all down for Christmas in like a month?! Ay-yi-yi.

Do you decorate for Fall?
